Yom Kippurim

Yom Kippurim is our Day of Atonement. According to the Bible, in Vayikrah/Leviticus 23:26-32, YHWH commanded a kadosh convocation on the 1oth day of the month, for YHWH’s people to afflict our soul.

We fast, offer offerings of fire to YHWH, to make an atonement for ourselves before YHWH, our Almighty. Whatsoever soul that does not be afflicted on that same day shall be cut off from among his people.

To have and keep our names in the Book of Life, Moses offered to YHWH to have his name “Stricken from the book You have written, if YHWH would not make an atonement for his people. (Shemot/Exodus 23:32-33). Because YHWH’s scattered people made covenants with them, allowed them to dwell in our land, and made YHWH’ sin against YHWH. Serving their g ds, is a snare to our people.

32 You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their g ds. 33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their g ds, it will surely be a snare to you.”

Moshe’s willingness to be stricken from the Book of Life, on the people, YHWH’s people’s behalf, is like Yahoshua’s role (Hebrew 9:15). 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
